First timers applicants of Colleges and Universities funding should wait a little bit longer for their loans to process.

A total of 139,060 first timers applied for the government funding which is against the expected 140,107 placed in institutions.
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is a body responsible for placing students in various institutions.
Helb boss Charles Ringera disclose that, another 109,798 students placed to the TVETs institutions have applied for the funds.
This brings to a total of number of 248,858 applicants of the academic year 2023-2024.
The application process halted on Saturday after a one month extension from the previous deadline to accommodate many applicants.
Eagerly waiting for first time loans
Many students are now eager to have the funds so as to clear their fee balances and also use the rest loans for upkeep.

Institutions are also waiting to have the loans disbursed after the Education CS Ezekiel Machogu directed them to admit students.
The CS earlier directed Higher Education Institutions to admit all students even if they had no fees, says funds will cater.
The CEO of University (Funding UF), Geoffrey Monari says students placed in public Universities will receive both loans and scholarships.
On the other hand, those in Private Universities will only receive the loans that will cater for their upkeep.

The funding is also determined by the programme costs, amongst other relative factors.
The funding estimates UpTo Sh39.4 billions for the 2023-2024 financial year.
